In this form exploration exercise, I was given the task to create a form that represents aerodynamics and meets certain dimensions while on a stand. The chosen form was inspired by a hammerhead shark to bring a unique approach to this project.
Design Process
Starting with sketches of prepositions and profiles, the form exploration of the speedform would gradually make its way to the final design.
Model Fabrication
Using wood sheets, pink foam, clay, and patience, the speedform began to take shape into its final shape.
Stand Fabrication
The design of the stand was intended to give the effect of the model tipping over forwards due to an excessive overhang. The model’s weight and the positioning of the stand’s support create a perfect distribution of weight balancing the model.
Final Presentation
After a three week period, the model’s fabrication came to an end revealing its final form.
