SUMMITEER
Emergency Response in Rural Northern Environments
The success rate of rural rescue operations can be widely based on numerous factors such as weather conditions, availability of resources, rescue efficiency, and the severity of injuries. Summiteer is an emergency response vehicle oriented for rural northern environments that enables the ability to conduct rescue operations in a more efficient and safer manner ensuring the safety of patients. With its robust design and specialized features, Summiteer addresses the unique challenges of remote areas, providing responders with the necessary tools to navigate harsh conditions and deliver timely assistance to those in need.
Thesis Visual Presentation
The Four Essential Pillars for Design Excellence
The four essential pillars encompass human-centric design approach and the understanding of full-bodied, three dimensional physical interaction of user, product and environment. The projects generate innovative solutions using research-driven, evidence-based designs which focus on the user experience.
Ergonomics & Human Factors Design
The rear elevator lift reduces the paramedic's back strain when loading the stretcher or simply entering the vehicle.
The rear elevator platform extends from the base of the vehicle in two sections and lowers to the ground for easy loading or unloading. The vehicle’s all-terrain track system enables the possibility of conquering tough snowy terrain. The four-wheel steering system allows for the vehicle to take tighter turns minimizing its turn radius.
Human-Interaction & User-Centric Design
The interior design of the vehicle is meticulously designed with a focus on improving the human experience.
Every aspect, from the layout of the driver’s area to the arrangement of storage is carefully considered to ensure maximum convenience and usability for passengers. The collapsible side ladder is designed to hide inside of the vehicle’s body creating a secondary entry method for the driver to enter the vehicle.
Human-Interaction & User-Centric Design
The vehicle’s interior revolves around human ergonomics to provide a comfortable and usable environment for every user no matter their size.
The driver’s cabin is designed for maximum visibility with a chopped steering wheel and a holographic display keeping the driver’s focus on what lies ahead.
Sustainability & Social Responsibility
Summiteer’s goal as an outdoor-oriented vehicle is to prevent harming the environment while saving people’s lives while staying reliable and utilizing the possibility of reusing materials.
The fabrics are plant-based while the leather is vegan. The entirety of the vehicle’s frame is made from recycled aluminum. Summiteer features a hybrid engine to reduce emissions while ensuring reliable performance, especially in cold weather conditions, where electric power alone may compromise range.
